S.Sivanathan, born in Sri Lanka, was the
main force behind the Siva for Kids Foundation.
The special thing about this man, is the fact
that he was really invested in the arts domain.
He was a poet, painter, animator, social analyst
and most of all a very sensible man (especially
towards humanitarian issues).
Being the first Sri Lankan-Danish animator, after
spending a few years in Danmark, he decided
to return to his home country and put his
talent and open an orphanage. This orphanage
was planned in order to deal with the innocent
kids affected by the civil war since 1983.
The idea behind all this was to use creativity
to help the ones the most in need in this
world: children. S. Sivanathan believed that
creativity was part of a healthy recovery.
While the children would draw (their dark
past away), the cleansing process could take
place! This method, post-trauma recreation
as it is most known, seems to create unexpected
results.
The first of April 2004 was the set date to
accomplish the first step of this long journey.
Unfortunatly, the artist died of health problems
at age 48 (on the 25th of January 2004). His
sudden death did not change the plans thought;
his eldest son, U. Sivanathan, (living in
The Hague - The Netherlands) is taking about
himself to persue his father' s dream of a
better world for kids.
The Siva for Kids Foundation (young humanitarian aid
organisation) is now founded and well alive!
A word from the founder: ' The important thing
about Siva for Kids, is that it is above any
religious beliefs. The main goal is to be
there for those in need.'
The advantage of this organisation is the
amount of energy, ideas and physical support
that is generated to bring the help need those
in need. It can work on a small scale, building
a variety of projects, which will give bigger
results in the long term.
U. Sivanathan also says, about his father,
"My father' s philosophy was always that
there is no need to go about the world looking
for Allah, Jesus, Buddah or even Siva, because
GOD is living in every being. This shines
through: good thoughts, good will and good
causes".
"While it might take a bit of openess
to see it, when it' s done it will be so obvious
to one that nothing in this world will feel
better then helping those innocent souls".
Basically, what this signifies is that "SIVA for Kids =
YOU for Kids".
Siva for Kids also
stands for= United
we help!
