AUCTION4KIDS on the Queensday in Utrecht

Posted on 01 May 2007 by S4K

On the Queen’s Day (on April 30 or celebrated on April 29¬†if the 30th is Sunday) is a national holiday¬† in the Netherlands, Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles. It started as a celebration of the Dutch monarchy. It is mainly known for the ‘vrijmarkt’ (literally ‘freemarket’), the one day in the year that anyone is allowed to sell anything in the streets. The night before is celebrated as ‘Koninginnenacht’ (queen’s night).

The night before is celebrated as ‘Koninginnenacht’ (Queen’s night). Also this year, the foundation Siva for Kids was taking part to this celebration.

So the volunteers Claire, Claudia, Juliette, Kees and Nathalie took part to the Auction4Kids activity organized by the founder (U.K. Sivanathan) together with Emmanuel Olivier (Market Development) and Domenico La Ferla (P.R.). to inform about S4K charity organization and fundraising mainly for the ongoing projects in South America for the current moment with¬†items, like¬†second hand laptops, books, cd’s, dvd’s,¬†usb-memory sticks, harmonia, football, tennis balls,¬†clothes, shoes etc. etc. which are donated by friends and volunteers of Siva for Kids Foundation. View the gallery of this acitivity. Read the article of Hotdog4Charity of the activity on the Queensday 2006.

The message was clear, a banner “United we help” was behind the stand. The people did not hesitate to buy the items and to donate for charity. For sure the bargain was the funniest part of the auction to haggle the prices, but the good purposes triumphed in the end.

The Music4Kids CD was played during the night (available at the stand with the other S4K merchandising items) and sometimes people stepped by just to have a talk about coming projects. The status of the ongoing projects in South America is almost defined, and the Auction4kids gave another little help to increase the funds needed for these two projects (rebuilding a pre-school and building up a PC room).

Afterwards, the funds raised, the fun, and the nice and friendly atmosphere around Siva4Kids had generated a new creative idea: Auction4Kids all year long. Based on this enthusiastic experience, S4K board invites everybody to partecipate to this charity action just giving some old stuff and second hand items. The items will be available for sale through an ebay account and through our stand4charity will take part in the future to other flea markets in the Netherlands. All the money fundraised will be donated 100% for charity purposes.

If you want to contribute please write an email with subject “secondhand” to¬†info@siva4kids.org

Florence, the heart of Italian art, supports again Siva4Kids through one of his sons. The well known artist Lucio Parrillo donated three pieces of artwork to join Art4Kids project for a value totalling € 5500.

Lucio Parrillo is an Italian illustrator who does work in Europe and United States. He is known for fantasy art, science fiction, comics, covers for video games, board games and comic books.
He has been working on many projects for Marvel Comics, Vivendi Universal, Dungeons and Dragons, Panini, Clementoni, Magic the Gathering, Sierra, Soleil, SQP and other companies all over the world.

Other artist and known personalities who have already supported the goal and mission of Siva for Kids Foundation are: Marina Varouta, the young upcoming artist from Germany, Bombay Rockers, the world famous boyband of Denmark,  PadmaShri Hariharan, a very respected personality of Indian classical music and  play back singer of Indian films industry and Martin Joergensen, who is a professional (FC Fiorentina) football personality of Denmark.

Domenico La Ferla asked him a couple of questions: Why Florence? Why Siva4Kids?
He replies: “For an artist like me every town should be ok if I have a desk and my stuff. But every artist needs to be inspired and surrounded by art. That is the reason why I live in Florence also if I am travelling a lot to US”. Regarding Siva4Kids he says: “Since I had this opportunity I agree with this project that will help children. I really appreciate the effort that this foundation is doing day by day, and I want to be part of Art4Kids project”.

The three pieces of artwork are the original illustrations of two comics covers (Wolverine X-Man and Conan) and a video game (Dragon Farm).

Kyoko Yamaji supports SIVA4KIDS

Posted on 26 October 2006 by S4K

Kyoko Yamaji is the first japanese artist to take part to our project Art4Kids. Our Worldwide P.R. (Domenico La Ferla) got in contact with this artist to thank her personally. She replied: “It’s me to thank you for the wonderful project. I would be happiest if I can do something for others as an artist. I would love to do something for disadvantaged children and young people in conditions of underdevelopment, war, poverty or natural disaster. I trust you, the professionals for the operation because I can’t do anything by myself. Also, the founder of S4K was an artist, so I feel an affinity with S4K“.

Other artist and known personalities who have already supported the goal and mission of Siva for Kids Foundation are: Lucio Parrillo, the young upcoming marvel-artist from Italy, Marina Varouta, the young upcoming artist from Germany, Bombay Rockers, the world famous boyband of Denmark,  PadmaShri Hariharan, a very respected personality of Indian classical music and  play back singer of Indian films industry and Martin Joergensen, who is a professional (FC Fiorentina) football personality of Denmark.

Kyoko is a well-known artist in Japan, where she collected many awards. Since 2002, she is taking part to International Art Fairs and Group Shows. She describes herself with some simple words full of emotions: “I’m a self-taught artist, born and brought up mostly in Tokyo, Japan and in the United States for a short time. I have been an art lover since my early age, but I didn’t feel like painting until I was strongly influenced by African charm. Traveling to mid eastern Africa was a precious experience in my life. I gained enthusiasm from the beauty, toughness and love of human beings and wild animals.

¬†I also paint images inspired by music, movies, and also from my own experience or sympathy to others. Recently I was again strongly influenced by the warmth and cheerfulness of Caribbean people, especially “the happiest people in the world” in Puerto Rico. My theme and style may change along the way, meeting people, traveling, how I feel, and such. Anyway, I am pursuing to express touching feelings, scenes and impressions in my style”.

Through her words, we can also feel the colours of her art. She describes the feeling regarding the artwork “Into The Light” available in our Shop4Kids: “This is what I felt in Africa. I couldn’t do anything. I wished to bring naked children in the street to a world where there is no sorrow, no hunger and no fear, a beautiful place filled with love and peace”.

We are proud to welcome an emotional artist like Kyoko and we invite other artists like her to join our project Art4Kids.

HotDog4Charity in The Hague

Posted on 15 August 2006 by S4K

ImageHotDog4Charity was a fundraising activity which occurred on the Queens day, 29th April 2006, in The Hague, The Netherlands. It was made possible by The Organization Haagsehopjes, which make activities for the multicultural community in The Hague and through the support of the volunteers of Domenicodellefeste.com, from South Europe, Italy and North America, United States, and United Kingdom. This was the second time the staff of Domenicodellefeste.com contributing to help children in third world countries through SIVA4KIDS Foundation. See also their first Party4Charity activity, in Florence, Italy, for SIVA4KIDS.org in the gallery of S4K.

Hotdog4Charity was a fundraising activity which was supported by several organizations including Haagsehopjes.nl, Domenicodellefeste.com and the Danish Seaman Church of Rotterdam, who was kind enough to provide the delicious world famous Chicken Hotdogs and Hot dog bread. Even though the weather was not supporting the activity as It could the motivation of the gathered volunteers and those who joined this activity was amazing.

ImageSome of the volunteers who came all the way to be a part of this fund raising are, wrote their own impression in words which are:

First introducing the MarvaQueen Giulia (elected Marvagia of the year 2005) that says: “Our presence and enthusiasm in the Netherlands for Koninginnedag will bring joy to many children in third world countries”. The Coordinator of Marvagi, Alex i’Marva, carefully prepared the organization in all the details (International flight, accomodation, orange caps and t-shirts): “Queen Beatrix get scared, the party is coming there!”

Every of them enjoyed this charity action!

Used to mayonaise, ketchup and mustard, Mr. Page (from Chicago) says: “This is not America but I like it!”. Piada (from Rimini – Italy) cooked hot-dog all day long, following the orders taken from i’Marva through the window. Matte the Alchimist and the portuguese Sandra (both arrived from London) played football in the playground with some kids. At the cash, MarvaCri (Cristina) says: “Getting money is always nice, is much better for a good purpose!”. With his French accent, Manu le Malin (now Manu il Franzoso) tries to translate orders from Dutch to…? Enrichino (also known as Mr.Google) goes upstairs and downstairs to bring the warm sandwiches. Ddf (Domenicodellefeste) entertains the people at the stand doing public relations as usual.¬†

It’s party, Party 4 Charity, a good cause to have fun during a sunny day in Den Haag!
And Queen Beatrix is not scared anymore…
